Learning to rig a drop shot can be a daunting task for any angler. Trust us once you learn the fundamentals it’s super easy and rest assure anyone can start drop shotting today with the Lazer Sharp Pro Series Drop Shot Kit.

  1. Grab your desired L6 Drop Shot hook

  2. Determine the longest leader length you’ll want with your current fishing situation. If you’re brand new to fishing and drop shotting a great starting place is around 18 inches. Place your finger on that spot to mark where you’ll tie your L6 onto your line.

  3. Tie on your L6 drop shot hook using a palomar knot.
    • After tying on your L6 take the tag end (line hanging from the bottom) and run it back through the eyelet from top to bottom. Then pull the tag end down to pop the knot through and keep your hook always facing up which is crucial to catching fish with a drop shot.

  4. Grab your desired weight and run your tag end through the eyelet of the weight. From there simply pull the line up towards the top of the pinch point of the eyelet, and that’s it! There’s no tying needed with our drop shot weights.

Darin Bass

Pro Tip

Darin from Product says: When fishing a drop shot rig, often less is more. Remember that subtle movements of the rod tip lead to tantalizing action from your soft plastic below. They'll lose interest if you get too aggressive when targeting highly pressured fish. I'd venture to say 85 percent of the time I'm working a drop shot; subtle movement gets bit.

Stefan Bass

Pro Tip

Stefan from Creative says: Many folks put extra work into attaching drop shot weights by tying them on. A pinch point on the eyelet of our drop shot weights makes it super simple to connect your weight and allows you to save more rigs. Run your line through the eyelet, then pull it up towards the pinch point near the tip of the eyelet. It'll grab, and that's it! The pinch point gives it the perfect amount of pressure. While fishing, it stays put, but when you get snagged, it'll pop off, and you save your hook and soft plastic!
